What our trips are all about...

Culture

Explore new areas beyond just what you see in the pictures.. leave with a new knowledge of local traditions, customs, language and cuisine. We offer our guests opportunities to contribute to the wellbeing of the places they visit!

Community

Our itineraries include a wide range of community and team building events that happen before the 'big hike' day. This allows our guest families to acclimatize, get to know one another, and really gel as a group before taking on a physical challenge.

Sharing meals, playing games, going out to learn about local culture together.. these are things that provoke great conversation allowing us to get to know one another and providing depth to the adventure.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Huaraz remains extremely traditional and conservative in nature. Please remember that we are guests and as such we should dress and behave respectfully towards our hosts. Please dress modestly during your time here.

Bringing a small gift is optional but recommended to give to some of the families we will support in the community. (Quality socks, non-lingual games (like UNO, a quality decks of cards, Blockus), children's toys or a quality kitchen utensil/gadget.)

As our name Culture Chalk implies, we specialize in Cultural Education. As your guide, and someone that was raised in Peru, I (Owen), truly want you to experience the best of Peruvian culture while representing your own culture with class, sensitivity and objectivity. And trust me, it's not always easy when experiencing new things, as good as they may be, they are still different and different can be challenging. As a family, we encourage visitors to come with an attitude of loving Peru for what it is and not judging it for what it is not.

Peru is a vibrant place and roosters crowing, dogs barking, music playing and fireworks being set off at all times of the day is considered normal. Come ready to laugh, dance, sing, and see yourself in a brand new light.

Also... Please bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper! ;)

Our goal as your hosts is for you to leave our place BETTER, in so many ways.

*Accommodation pictures will be uploaded once total number of participants is confirmed.
