Moms and Daughters,
Guatemala 2026 Trip!
Join us for a time of adventure, culture, connection, and time together learning about beautiful traditions.
Lake Atitlan, Tecpan, Antigua - truly something special.
APRIL 23 - May 1, 2026

This is a time to focus on strengthening your bond with your daughter through adventure and experience based travel! At Culture Chalk we believe in creating one of a kind experiences that will be remembered for a lifetime. Not all of them will be easy moments, in fact, by design our trips offer some hard and challenging moments to induce reflection and personal growth. Visit San Juan La Laguna and experience it's stunning beauty while observing the obvious differences between your standard of living and that of the locals. Observe the joy and community present in our neighbourhood and leave with a renewed sense of gratitude. This trip is all about contrasts. We finish off the adventure with an incredible overnight hike up the infamous Acatenango Volcano to stay in a cabin and watch the neighbouring Volcano Fuego erupt through the night.

In 2024 over 50% of Culture Chalk's revenues went straight back into supporting their community initiatives: renovating local's properties, housing for single mothers, providing purposeful jobs for local widows and groceries for families in need. This trip will not only nourish your soul, but will be helping local single-mother homes.

Hiking Disclaimer: Acatenango Volcano’s peak is at 13,045 feet. This trip’s itinerary involves hiking 4 steep and challenging miles up on an established trail for 4-6 hours to about 11,800 feet. Those with little experience hiking high altitudes should prepare accordingly and discuss preparation with their doctor. The group will have professional guides with them, along with the Culture Chalk host and group leader. The hikers will take many breaks, and the guide will assess regularly for anyone feeling unwell. Anyone who anticipates that they will be unable or unwilling to complete the hike up Acatenango and then back down the next day should contact us prior to make alternate arrangements in schedule.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Lake Atitlan remains traditional and fairly conservative in nature. Please remember that we are guests and as such we should dress and behave respectfully towards the hosts. Please dress modestly during your time here.
Bringing a small gift is optional but recommended to give to some of the families we support in our community. (Quality socks, a no-longer used smartphone, children's toys or a quality kitchen utensil/gadget.)
We hope you love Guatemala for what it is and don't hate it for what it is not: Come with an attitude of adventure and expect some things to NOT go smoothly at all times. Guatemala is a developing country and amenities and infrastructure are developing. While the accommodations we book and offer during your visit are considered luxury to the local population, they are not immune to occasional water cuts, internet cuts, power outages, etc. Guatemala is a vibrant place and roosters cawking, dogs barking, music playing and fireworks being set off at all times of the day is considered normal. Please bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
Our goal as your hosts is for you to leave our place BETTER, in so many ways.
